With something for all tastes and preferences, from budget to luxe, the city of 283-days-of-sunshine a year is sure to charm even the toughest of critics. Here is our choice of artsy and appetising offerings in Queensland's capital…
James Street
There are bustling bars, award dash winning restaurants and more than 110 specialty stores from chic boutiques to design showrooms. James Street is considered one of Brisbane's trendiest retail and lifestyle precincts. The promenade is well worth a gander, be it for a shopping spree mid- morning coffee and brunch or fun night out.
Spree with Me
Whether you're partial to a little retail therapy, or just want to know what colours and styles work best for you, Spree with Me may just be the personal styling session you didn't know you needed.
Spree with Me founder Imogene Whittle says: “Our goal was to create a marketplace of personal stylists to teach women how to dress and be confident while supporting local designers.”
Imogene says it's a service she has wanted in the past while on holidays. “I hate getting stuck in the tourist traps when on holidays, and I have thought how wonderful it would be to meet a like-minded local to guide me and to introduce me to local designers, and show me the unique boutiques in the area.”
The Brisbane born concept which began in 2019, is about improving purchase decisions by making personal styling services more accessible and catering to all budgets. After expanding to Melbourne, Spree with Me now consists of 10 stylists in the two cities assisting guests to curb impulse shopping patterns and purchase regret with an emphasis on matching new items with those favourite “oldie but goodie” pieces.
Based around James Street, Paddington and Brisbane CBD the tours offer a curated shopping experience where shoppers meet the designers behind the products and styles the tours run from 10am until 2pm, stopping for lunch in between.
