Featuring Spree with Me’s James Street Style Trail
Story: Shelley Howells
Excerpt of story featuring Spree with Me’s Brisbane Shopping Tour in James Street:
Pampering, food and wine” is on the agenda this morning. If you like fashion and shopping, a Spree with Me walking style-tour is the fast-track to fashion happiness whether you’re after tips and inspiration or simply don’t want to waste precious holiday time aimlessly wandering around the shops.
These are tours curated for the individual and take into consideration taste, goals and budget. We meet company founder, “stylepreneur” Imogene Whittle, and start our Local Style Trail around toney James Street, with coffee and a chat. Then it’s on to a couple of hours of vigorous browsing and trying on – it’s an eye-opener trying on outfits that you wouldn’t consider without a pro stylist egging you on – and it’s all very no-pressure-to-buy and a lot of fun.
It would be an amazing addition to a weekend away with friends – all genders are welcome.
Today includes lots of local brands, new and emerging – including Queensland’s own Aje, Alemais, the dark genius Gail Sorronda and Aussie legends Camilla, Zimmermann, Sass & Bide.
Lunch is at a prime outdoor spot at local legend Harveys Bar + Bistro. It’s preordered and arrives swiftly – the famous Asian chicken salad, of course, with peanuts, tamarind, coconut, chilli and Vietnamese mint; a Brisbane classic.
Then, even more great shops, like Calexico, with more than 120 local and international brands, family-run Andronis Jewellery, dreamy upmarket loungewear at the first flagship store of Silk Laundry, the impossibly cool unisex corset-inspired designs of Dion Lee, sustainable jewellery at Molten Store, and fun, unique resin homewares at Dinosaur Design. Finish with a glass of wine in the sunshine, a whole lot of new style inspo and maybe the odd package to take home.
